My name is Tracy Gatti. I am an Autism Specialist in The Asbury Park school district. I have a bachelor’s degree in Education and masters in Autism Spectrum Disorder. I hold a teacher of the Handicapped certification in NJ and FL.  I have been working in special education for 28 years. I have experience in self-contained classes in grades preschool through 5th grade. I have also been an inclusion teacher in pre-kindergarten for 16 years. I have worked with children with many diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, ODD, OCD, Down’s Syndrome, DiGeorge Syndrome, and more. I have worked with many curriculums, assessments, and evidence-based practices.
My role as an Autism Specialist is that of a collaborator and a planner. I will gather information from all stakeholders in order to accurately assess how my unique skill set can be utilized best for the betterment of programs and planning for children with ASD. I can provide training in many areas to enhance teaching techniques, behavioral strategies, data collection, student self-assessments, sensory supports, and many other topics.

Professional Goals

SMART goals:
1.  By November of 2023, I will have signed up for an educational workshop to enhance my teaching skills as I strive to become a better teacher.
2.  By October of this year, I will have reached out to the CST and Director of Special Services to procure the SEPAG dates for this current school year so I can get parents involved with the students and the special education process.
3. I will attend at least one special education conference per year for the next 5 years to enhance my intervention practices and knowledge of current ASD trends.
4. I will attend board of education meetings regularly over the next 5 years to become more familiar with educational protocols to lead to better advocacy for my students and their families.
5. By September 2033 I will gather information about retirement so I can be better prepared for my future after my teaching career.
6. By September 2033 I will have given at least 3 workshops at the NJEA teachers conference to build my portfolio and experience.
